The Ateneo de Naga University, often known as AdNU, is a private Catholic Jesuit basic and higher education institution in Naga City, Camarines Sur, Philippines, run by the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus. The Jesuits took over the management of the diocesan school, Camarines Sur Catholic Academy, in 1940. After gaining control, the Jesuits renamed the school Ateneo de Naga. Ateneo was the name given by the Jesuits to all of the schools that were being established at the time. The Jesuits named the fourth Ateneo school, Ateneo de Naga. AdNU, like most institutions in the Philippines, has coeducational elementary (since 2014) and secondary departments.
